Her hero could well have been a villain in another story and even the villains are treated with humanity. Her heroine, who provides the paranormal element in the story, is engaging, but you can also see why she is a source of frustration to the people who love her.
The pacing of the story makes this a difficult book to put down. I suggest starting it on a weekend morning - not a weekday night as I did."
